Hi - We're Mike, Amanda, Jack (7, now 9) & Kate (5, now 7). we're heading off on holiday somewhere. We're travelling in a 2008 Toyota Landcruiser 200 Series. It has been fitted with a Toyota Steel Winch Bar, Rotronic Dual Battery System with an Orbital Deep Cycle, BF Goodrich A/Ts, Rhino Rack...and soon to be upgraded suspension! We run a Uniden UHF, Yaesu FT-857 multiband transceiver (SSB, CW, AM, FM and digital), Thuraya Satphone and a Kannard 406 PLB XS3 GPS Personal Locator Beacon. We're towing a fantastic Australian Offroad Camper Odyssey Signature Camper Trailer from Steve and Rhonda (AOR Owners) in Queensland. It is a mean device - takes about 3 minutes to set up and is fitted with a queen size innerspring matress (ahhh says Amanda!), bunks for the kids, slide out kitchen with a sink and 3 burner gas cooker. Hot and cold water electrically pumped to the sink. Storage like you wouldn't believe! 120W solar panel for the twin marine deep cycle batteries. 240V inverter. Gas hot water with outside shower. LED light inside and out! Extra strong independent suspension with Cooper tyres matched to the LC. Feb/March 2009 update - Black Widow Drawers up and down, added with a side slide for the Engel Fridge. Old Man Emu shocks and coils, rear coilrite airbags, stone guard kit, safari snorkel, diff breathers. November 2010 update - Some new mods to the Cruiser for the Tassie trip - Premier 9000 lb winch with Dynamica synthetic rope, BF Goodrich Mudterrains KM2 (fitted in Canberra), Super-Peg Stand Easy Awning, two SpaceCases for the front of the Trailer, Windscreen mounted UHF aerial, new Hitchmaster DO35 trailer hitch (what a marriage saver!) |
